.Most people just simply dive into blogging without really putting in a lot of time on thinking about the mistakes that they could possibly make in the future!
For most beginner’s they start a blog because they simply want to earn a lot of dough. If it was as simple as most people think it is then everyone would quit their jobs and start blogging to earn a living!
What people fail to realize is that blogging is a long term process, which requires a lot of dedication, hardwork, time and thought.
So if you are one of those people that are thinking about starting a blog then here are the 10 mistakes that you should avoid making.
1.CHOOSING THE WRONG NICHE:
This mistake will get you into a lot of trouble and it could become quite a problem to recover from that mistake. In fact this could be the reason why you decide that you simply don’t want to blog anymore!
So here is what you want to do!
.You need to choose a broad niche that you are really passionate about you know something that really piques your interest. Because you see when you write about things that you are not interested in then you will eventually get bored with blogging and you definitely don’t want that to happen.
.Furthermore there is the fact that you need to put out content at least 4 to 5 times in a week or maybe more times if you are just starting out on your blogging journey.
So make sure that you pick a topic that is really in depth and has lots of different topics linked to it!
Try to make blogging fun and don’t make it out to be something it is not supposed to be (a chore).
2.Giving Up Too Early: This is a problem that a lot of blogger’s go through. Most people start blogging with a lot of expectations and not just normal expectations but really high one’s.
And then when something does not turn out the way that people want it to turn out they start to get discouraged.
And with blogging that is one thing that you are not supposed to do because blogging is a long term journey.
If you are going to give up early in the game then you are not going to see results that you may have seen most successful blogger achieve!
Starting a blog is like starting a brick and mortar business it takes time to actually start seeing results therefore giving up too soon should not be an option if you want to succeed in the blogging circle.
So when it’s get’s tough continue pushing through!
3.Trying to be perfect: A lot of new bloggers spend so much time on designs, templates and themes that are not really necessary at the beginning.
Your content is the main thing that matters most.Yes a great theme and a responsive design will have a positive imapact on your blog but your main focus should always be on your content.
Putting out helpful and engaging content that people will find interesting will take your blog further than a great theme ever would.
So you need to really invest your time in writing content. Because as Bill gates said once in 1996 that ‘Content is King’ (a statement which is still true even today).
4.Not Using Enough Images:
You may not know this but the human brain processes colors faster than plain old text.
The more colors you incorporate into your blog post, the more enagaged your readers are going to be. Besides images, gifs, memes, and videos can make your post look more appealing and interesting, so why not use them.
I recommend that you use at least 4 images in one blog posy just make sure that you don’t go overboard if you have adsense integrated within the post too. You can use Pixabay images or images from Canva both of these sites offer 100 percent free image creating tools.
They are a fast and reliable source to create images for absolutely no cost at all.
5.Not Using Social Media!:
This is a huge mistake. Not using social media sites like Facebook,Twitter,Google+ and especially sites like Pinterest or Linkedin to get traffic to your blog is a very huge mistake that you can’t afford to make!
You see waiting for your blog or post to get ranked in Google for free traffic is a risk that you should not take! Google actually looks at the amount of shares and engagements your posts are getting on social media to deem it worthy enough.
Also, you need quality backlinks to rank (which is nearly impossible to get these days) so social media is your only real option to start seeing some activity on your blog.
6.Not posting Enough!:
Now just remember the number of times that you post on your blog matters but not as much as the type of content that you post! It is not about the amount of the blog posts you can put up during the week but it is rather the quality and depth of your post that matters.
Google rewards a post that is lengthy (about 2000 words or more),contains infographics, videos and internal links!
Google favors such posts over posts that just put out regular only text based content.
You should at least try to put out content 5 or 6 times a week if you are just starting out.
7.Updating Old Content:
After a few months or maybe after a couple of years your old blog posts will not rank anymore, in fact it is possible that you won’t not find those posts on Google search anymore . This is because Google like to present it’s users with the best and most relevant content there is,so what you need to do if something like this happens to you is to update your old content and if your feel like even after the update that content won’t be relevant then simply delete that post.
Because it will do you absolutely no good.
Either update old content or simply get rid of it completely.
8.Not Reinvesting In Your Blog: This is a problem that you may see with many bloggers, they blog for years without ever really trying to expand or grow their business. It could be that some of them are blogging simply because they just love blogging, which is completely fine but if you really want to live off of your blog or earn a full time income from blogging then you need to reinvest your earnings and actually treat your blog like a real business.
For example you can create Ebooks in your niche , buy professionally written articles ,invest in videos for your blog.
These are some of the best ways that you could take your business to the next level!
Having high expectations and fast expectations are completely different things. You should set goals and have high expectations for your blog as with everything else in life but you definitely don’t want to have fast expectations with your blog or making money online if you do not have boat loads of capital.
Fast expectations will lead to blog destruction, trust me.It will show, people will spot you from miles away because fast expectations lead to spam creation.Be PATIENT!
10.Listening to lies:
It makes me really sad to see that people fall for fairytales from those so called guru bloggers! I am not saying that you can’t earn a lot of money by blogging online, you definitely can but it takes time and money.
There are bloggers out there earning hundred’s of dollars from their blogs but the fact is those bloggers spent years failing time and time again, blog after blog before they actually got it right.
The truth is a blog that start’s to earn in it’s first year, usually relies on paid ads and they sell their own product’s or promote other people’s products through email lists!
Conclusion!: So there you have it beautiful people, these are all the mistakes that you need to avoid if you want to have a successful blogging career!
Please try to follow all these points or at least as many as you can they will really help you out!
